Visuals for Language was my master's thesis and it is composed by three pieces: theory, guidelines and application. The theorical part discusses the role of visual support in the learning process of a foreign language. It analyzes the different visual strategies implemented by didactic books to guide and inform learners on different grammar aspects of the language and points out visual conficts caused by those strategies. "Zeichen für DaF" combines design with information architecture to present guidelines for a consistent language encoding and it explains how this visual system was developed for the German language. Finally, the book "Dieses kleine Buch ist für dich" uses the developed system to explain German grammar to non-native speakers.
