CLOSE-UP CLOUD
An experimental visualization for the exploration of image collections
The Close-Up Cloud enables the visual exploration of a collection of historical glass negatives. The overview of close-ups invites you to familiarize yourself with the collection and to explore its richness of details. The sizes of the images illustrate the quantitative distribution of the iconographic details in the collection. Through the close-ups you can visually navigate the collection and explore the different objects.
The visualization enables the glass negatives to be experienced in a way that would not be possible with the physical objects. The Close-Up Cloud expands access to an overview of all keywords that have been assigned in the collection and invites you to explore them interactively.
The Close-Up Cloud is a student research project of the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam in cooperation with the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe (MKG) in Hamburg. The project was funded by the Brandenburg Center for Media Studies.
